Edna Moore, 66 of Fayetteville, NC died March 26, 2010 at Carol Robinson's Hpspice Center in Fayetteville, NC. Funeral to be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at Haw Branch AME Church, Richlands, NC; Rev. Morrison officiating.
Burial will be in Easton, Maryland.
Edna, known by many as Angie, was born January 7, 1948 in Richlands, NC to the late Huebie Lewis and Bertha Lucas. She departed this life on March 26, 2010 at Carol S. Robinson Center, Fayetteville, NC.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Rex, along with a sister, Mary and one great-grandchild, McKenzie.
She received her formal education in Richlands, NC. Edna was a “stay at home mom” for many years, but later returned to school and obtained a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate from Automation Academy School for Nursing. Her love for life and people led her to a fifteen year career in the field of private duty nursing. She loved her clients dearly and cherished the relationship she had with them all. Later she went on to receive certification from Pressley Ridge Foster Care Agency to work with emotionally disturbed children. Edna was a true believer in God and always served the Lord with gladness. She was a faithful member at Bethel AME Church Baltimore, MD and in Fayetteville, NC.
She received her license to minister on May 12, 2008. She answered the call from the Lord and began her ministry at Emmanuel Church of God In Christ, in which she was the founder.
Edna wrote a book entitled “I Refuse To”, telling her story of her fight with PKD Polycystic Kidney Desease.
Edna married Harrell Moore, Sr. on August 22, 1966 and to this union seven children were born. In 1973, the family moved to Baltimore, MD. Edna and Harrell returned to North Carolina in May of 2007.
Edna leaves to cherish her memory: her husband; sons, Michael Moore, Harrell Moore, Jr. and his wife Linda, Mark Moore, Rex Moore and his wife Gloria, Leon Lewis and Robert Thomas; three daughters, Lisa Brown and her husband Walter, Jean Moore and Jennifer Moore-Mcdaniel; twelve grandchildren, Anita, Santana, Antonio, LaToya, Alisa, Malcolm, Emmanuel, De’Andre, Mikkyo, Melanie, Kayla and Ahmad; five great-grandchildren, Tiyonna, Challenger, Jr., Mekhi-Payton, Khalil. Two brothers, Raeford Lewis and wife Laura, Bobby Lewis and wife Beullah; one sister, Bertha Sheppard and her husband Calvin. One god-child, Kimberly Norman; two foster sons, Jerald Golden and Diven; a god-sister, Carolyn and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
